Mrs. Sri Lanka International 2016 – Chandi Weerasooriya in Florida, USA
Chandi Weerasooriya, MRS. SRI LANKA INTERNATIONAL 2016, as Sri Lanka’s official entrant for the MRS. INTERNATIONAL 2016 Pageant in USA, is in Florida to participate in the Mrs. International Pageant which will take place on July 22nd and 23rd, 2016 at the Times-Union Centre for the Performing Arts, in Jacksonville, Florida.
The MRS. INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT SYSTEM has been developed to promote today’s married women, their accomplishments and commitment to family and marriage. Across the world, women are finding this system to be the opportunity to work with their husband and family to become positive role models. Mrs. International has evolved into a system that maintains the highest standards of world pageants.
Chandi Weerasooriya (nee Delwala) is a past pupil of Mahamaya Girl’s School, Kandy. She is now a leading International Model, Professional Make-up Artist and Director of Muditha Weerasooriya & Sons (Pvt) Limited. Chandi’s tertiary educational achievement’s include: Scandinavian Makeup Studio, Thailand (Graduate), Academy of Design (AOD) Diploma, and London Fashion School (Graduate). What’s more, Chandi is a passionate sports lover and has participated in many extracurricular activities of her school, Basket Ball, Net Ball and Athletics being her favourites. One of the significant achievements in Chandi’s sports career was winning National Colours in Basket Ball at the young age of only 17 years. In addition to being a key player in the National Basket Ball team, she also represented the Central Province in Net Ball and her School in Athletics.
Mr. Chitral de Mel, President, Boston Lanka Media Network, Franchise Holder and Country Director of the Mrs. International 2016 Pageant, is confident that Chandi will bring fame to her country and keep the Lion Flag flying high on the world stage. Mr. de Mel adds that the pageant which commenced 27 years ago, is an extravaganza that showcases beauty, glamour and personality and opens many doors for talented married women from around the world. Each contestant competes in an Interview session which is valued at 50% of overall score. Evening Gown and Fitness Wear are valued at 25% each. Husbands are a direct part of the show and will escort their wives in the evening gown contest. Being a militant children’s rights activist, Chandi will have the rare opportunity of learning first hand, the customs and family life of other countries and the chance to interact with her new friends about her heartfelt belief that neglected and abused children should be assured of a better tomorrow in their lives’ stories.
She deserves to be honoured as the very first Sri Lankan to compete in this beauty pageant of global proportions.
